My son, Keith’s car was stolen. He came out of work in Portland and thought for a second he’d parked his car elsewhere. Then, in a flurry, did three laps around the huge parking lot to look for it. AAgh! Three days later:

The police found it yesterday. It’s trashed inside. The steering column was broken and he has to fix it before it’ll start properly. It was on E and the battery was dead. The guy was in it when the cops found it so he’s in jail. He had a stack of his police reports in the car, as he’d just gotten out of jail. Plus it’s just gross. Some meth head was living in it. Underwear, condoms, drugs, antibiotic ointment, etc.
A guy from jiffy lube helped us by jumping it, lending Keith a gas can, and hotwired it to get it started. Now Keith uses a screwdriver to start the ignition, and holds the hanging turning signal on while he turns. Because a sheriff found it, he can get the police report for the insurance company in three days! If the police had found it, it would’ve been five weeks!
Keith’s roommate is a mechanic by trade, so he’s looking it over tonight. Blessings abound!
2 c. brown rice
4 1/2 c. water
1 T. olive or coconut oil
1 tsp. ground curcuma (turmeric)
2 handfuls parsley
1 tsp. ground oregano
2 cloves crushed garlic
Directions: Heat the oil, and stir in the turmeric. Mix well to a paste. Put the rice in the paste and stir well to combine. Cook for three minutes while stirring continuously. Add the water and bring to a boil. Simmer, with the lid on for 40-45 minutes until tender and water is absorbed. Stir in the parsley, oregano and garlic.
