Platano chips

W says that Cuko, the cat, is twice as big as his brothers and sisters. He gave me the cat! She runs and play outside in the country here, just, maybe two-three miles from W’s house. Starting at 6 a.m., she’s playing, jumping trees, hiding from Tiko. She’s quite the country girl!

Fried thinly sliced platano snd banana chips, a tropical snack

Recipe of the Day – Platano chips

Ingredients:

  • 1 green plantain
  • 1 tsp. coconut oil, melted
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne

Directions:

  1. Prepare your horno/oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and slice the plantain thinly and toss with the coconut oil. Lay pieces on the baking sheet, and sprinkle with salt and cayenne.Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until brown.

Tip of the Day –You can buy green or yellow platanos. Green plantains are a fruit. They’re not as ripe as the yellow, and they’re starchy. They are made for cooking, steaming, boiling, grilling, baking or frying here in South America. The yellow “dessert” bananas are eaten raw, just like bananas, but they’re bigger and less sweet, but awfully good, both of them.
