Funny story. In the ferrerteria here, the lady owner is always so somber. She’s definitely the boss, moving around quickly and efficiently, and helping me alot! But it was hard to make her smile. So I was in there picking out seeds from all the containers, which is super fun for me. And then, realizing when I got home, I wouldn’t remember what some of these seeds were, I asked her to stop for a minute while I wrote labels. So I was writing, “cantaloupe,” and saying,
“Can-ta-loupe” aloud as I wrote it.
“Me-lon,” I heard from P’s mouth.
“Can-ta-loupe,” I repeated.
“Me-lon,” she said, even louder.
Which made us both break out of our moods and laugh heartily. We got our smiles out from our stubborness!

Word of the Day – sonrisa – smile
Tip of the Day – You can’t always plan on how to connect. Sometimes being yourself, in all your crankiness or whatever, does the trick. Connecting with P was so worthwhile to me. Now, even if we’re not smiling, we connect a little. I just love the women of Ecuador so much. To me, they wear their hearts on their sleeves, the eons of work on their faces, their acceptance in their eyes. They’re so beautiful to me.
