Veggie Shaman Burgers

All those little black things I thought were bugs in my house all these months – turns out they were tiny black things from the Fica trees! Wahoo! Here, I thought they weren’t biting my because I was a wonderful person, ha ha! I realized that when I moved a patio table under the tree that overhangs my house. Every day I have to wash the table of the little black things. Yeah, they aren’t bugs!

Anyway, today I took the rest of Sylvia’s Shaman Soup, added garbanzos, and made the most delicious Shaman Burgers! It’s so exciting to use the local ingredients that are new to us gringas! Like zapallo – their gigantic pumpkins! Here’s the Recipe:

Ingredients:

2 c. Shaman soup (see yesterday’s post)

2 c. cooked garbanzos

1 Tab. coconut oil

1 tsp. seasoned salt

1 tsp. pepper

1/2 tsp. salt

Mash the garbanzos, and mix with the soup. Add the seasonings, and fry on a hot skillet, greased with coconut oil. It takes about three-four minutes for the first side, until browned, and one-two minutes on the other side. Serve warm with guacomole or avocado, slices of tomato and onion. Increible!

Tip of the Day: One of the most fun things to do in a new country, is to find new tastes, new combinations, new fruits and new vegetables. Ask what the food is, how to peel it, if its ready to eat, and how to cook it! People will gather around in the Sunday Market to give your their recipes. And to talk, and tell you how they’re trying to lose weight, but they love your dress. I find women to be the same everywhere, and I love them. I love the women here. It’s so fun!
